Starting in May or early June (weather dependent), queen availability will be updated here weekly. Purchased queens will be ready for pickup, on Fridays (or other days by appt) at Walnut Farm Bees (Carlisle, PA) or Nicholson, PA by appointment. Shipping is typically on Mondays (some Tuesdays). As available, you can select the mother’s genetics (breeder queen used). Queens color and appearance will vary, based on parent's genetics. They are available for pickup at our farm shop outside of Carlisle, PA. For pickup in Nicholson, PA, contact us prior to ordering. Queens are always marked with the year’s color–request in advance for different color (2025 is blue, 2024 was green, and 2023 was red). Availability ends in early August. For 2025, queens are $50, with small discounts at quantities of 5+ and 10+.

OUR PA QUEENS are open mated in our bee yards in Pennsylvania and are based on our goals of being hardy, not aggressive, producing honey, and the mother (breeder queen) showing mite resistance. We are not suggesting that you do not treat or test for varroa--always test your varroa mite levels throughout the season as many factors can influence that, including sudden mite pressure from nearby bees or robbing later in the season. Our breeder queens are not treated (monitored and tested carefully), but our production colonies are treated with organic mite treatments when needed. Each season we produce a limited number of high quality Pennsylvania mated queens, based on local and inseminated genetics from VSH Carniolan, VSH Pol-line, Golden West, and Harbo. While we have dedicated drone yard genetics, the mated queens are still "open" mated, so the queen you purchase will be based on the mother, plus a mix of the above stock and any other colonies nearby.
QUEEN GUARANTEE – We want you to be happy with our bees, and if you follow our installation instructions, and your new mated queen is not laying within 15 days following your purchase, you can have a replacement queen or money back.
